The World Beyond the Mirror
The World Beyond the Mirror
“Rufus come back, no don’t go up there, mum you left the attic door open again” I yelled running after him. Suddenly he disappears.
“Rufus, here boy,” I say getting down on my knees looking under the old dusty furniture. I hear a meow coming from the old mirror.
“Oh no,” I say I walk over to the mirror “Rufus…”
I touch the mirror and my hand disappears into it. I gasp, a bit excited and nervous to go through but I know I have to go get Rufus. But what about mum? Oh, she’ll be fine She can survive on her own for what I thought was going to take 5 minutes, can’t she?
“Oh boy how did I get myself into this mess” I mutter under my breath?
I step into the mirror and into what seems to be another world. I walk around asking people where I am. Most all of them just pretend I am not there and continue to carry on doing what they were doing. Then I see a group of kids about my age, some a bit older.
“Um excuse me do you know where I am, I’m lost,” I say suddenly feeling nervous as they turn around. Maybe they aren’t my age. Some of them start laughing.
“We are in Paris,” One of them tell me, smirking.
“No, we are in the Sahara Desert” another one her age whispers to her. I start to feel silly. Two of them, more like my age, come over. They look a lot nicer than the other four.
“You’re actually in Beymir, it stands for beyond the mirror,” The girl says, she seems nice.
“Hi my name’s Zayne and this is Eva, my sister, she’s very bad at introducing herself,” The boy says grinning at his sister.
“Hey” Eva replies punching him on the arm “So I’m guessing you’re from the other side of ‘The Mirror’?”
“Yes, I am although the mirror seems to have shut behind me,” I say turning around pointing at the ‘invisible’ mirror.
“Oh we know where you have to go,” Says Eva.
“Do you? where?” I say pleading that they will tell “Oh also have you seen a ginger cat around here. He’s the reason I came through the mirror”
“Oh my gosh it’s going to be harder than I thought,” Says Zayne looking at Eva.
“Why?” I said interested.
“Because cats hate dogs right?” Eva tells me.
“Yes and why is that a problem?” I said even more interested now.
“The only place you can go to is called dog town so only dogs live there and it’s full of them and I mean full of them.” zayne says just spotting Rufus and pointing to him.
“But there is a portal just for animals so you could send him back.”
“Ok we will have to do that because there is no way I’m going through Dog Town with a cat.” I say looking at Rufus.
“We’ll come with you,” Eva says.
“Ok where do we go then?”
“I’ll open up a portal that you can send Rufus back to your house.” Says Eva and then she opens a portal just big enough to send Rufus through.
“Bye.” I say hoping he will get home safely. I send him through the portal and we head on our way to Dogtown.
When we get there I am so glad I didn’t bring Rufus here as the roads are spilling with dogs.
One big angry bulldog was standing guard. It looked like he was never going to let us through. Eva seems to persuade him to let us past while me and Zayne run past (scared of the HUGE dog).
“Where do we go now?” I asked excited to get home.
“Over here” Zayne called from a little shop “this is where the portal will come from”
“Ok, what do we have to do?”
“Sprinkle blossoms over it,” Says Eva. Just as she speaks a gust of wind brings a pile of blossoms to us.
“Here,” I say sprinkling the blossoms over the pot. Suddenly a purple and blue wave comes out and forms an oval. I look back at Zayne and Eva and realize that they look sad.
“Oh, where have you guys come from?” I asked
“Well actually we came from the same mirror as you did”
“What, how, I mean that’s impossible,” I said astonished.
“We were the two kids that lived in the house before you,” Says Eva looking at the ground.
“Do you mean the kids who got kidnapped,” I say wide-eyed.
“Yes, the kids who got ‘Kidnapped’” Says Eva with quotation marks.
“Hmm I have an idea, why don’t you both come back to my house and I’ll talk to my mum and see if she can like adopt you or something,” I tell them hoping mum would approve.
“What does adopt mean?” asked Eva.
“Wow, you have been stuck here for a while, haven’t you?” I say waiting for an answer but I don’t get one. “It means you would become my brother and sister.”
“Oh we would love that” Both Zayne and Eva say at the same.
So we hopped through the portal back home. I asked my mum if we could adopt Eva and Zayne, she loved the idea and said yes. It’s been two months since that adventure happened and I now have two adopted siblings, a brother and a sister we are the same age and do everything together. “Oh and Rufus made it safely back home as well”
