Our before/after school adventures! By Taylor, Sofia and Giselle

The Black Car
We were crossing the road -on our way to school- when all of a sudden this black car pulled up, and the tattooed driver inside, wound down his window and sweared at us. He pointed the finger then carried on driving, but we swore we saw him turn around and come back. Scared, we were hiding behind trees and Giselle was even crawling behind cars. We’ve never seen him since but the thought still haunts us.

The Incident of the Dog
One day while we were walking to school a friendly dog came up to us and started sniffing and licking us. He kept following us for a while (he was getting really annoying) and then out the blue he ran across the road, barely avoiding any cars. Taylor, Sofia and Giselle were so surprised and worried for the dog and then he ran across the road again and then it happened……...Bang! The dog actually got hit by the car.The lady in the car pulled over and started swearing ‘is this your dog’ ‘No’ we said ‘he just started following us’ and suddenly she turned a lot nicer ‘I’m so sorry. When I get to work I’m going to call the pound’ . Finally, when she drove away we noticed there was a dent in her car. Haunted,we carried on walking the dog finally walked away, then we started running.

The Fainting Man
We were walking down Middle Road, talking to some bikers, then out of the corner of my eye I saw a old man fall over on the concrete, he was bleeding-it was dripping . Giselle didn’t see him so we kept on walking then a guy hopped out of his car and helped him. I felt really bad for the elderly man and just as I was thinking that Giselle said “Should we go back?” So we went back to the guy who pulled up and said “Do you need any help?” Then the old man started talking again he said that he was going down to big barrel to get some drinks for the night because about 2 years ago his wife died so he gets a little lonely. I think we were about cry when he said that The guy who was helping him soon turned around and said “I think we are alright but thanks anyway.” As we started to walk away another car pulled up and went to help, we heard “Oh my gosh are you alright?’’ We we to far away to hear the rest. We haven’t seen the old man since but we hope he is feeling better!

Counting pavlovas
It was a normal morning and we were walking down middle road, when all of a sudden we noticed a pavlova and a bag of pita pit bread sitting on top of the op-shop bin. “Thats strange” but we thought nothing else of it. A few minutes later we saw 2 more pavlovas that were up on a letter box, and just like before, we carried on walking. Further up the road we saw 2 pavlovas more across the path. Not long after that we saw 1 bagel in the gutter, then a bag of pita pit bread on a car roof. Next we saw a loaf of bread down a driveway. “Hows this happening” we wondered. 2 ginger kisses stood proudly on letter boxes.Three wrappers laid strewn across the road. One bag of opened icing sugar was pouring out through a seat and onto the ground. And just as we thought this couldn’t get any worse we saw 3 meringues that were squashed on poles.

The Mandarin lady
We were walking down the path, when we saw this lady picking up mandarin peels. She saw us pass and stopped us. “Make sure you pick up your mandarin peels kids” the lady exclaimed. We had no idea what she was talking about. “Ok” we said looking at each other, confused. “ Have a great day children and remember not to leave mandarin peels on the ground’’ she shouted as we walked away. Then she pulled a face like this:

Mr pushy
One day while we were walking, Giselle skilfully started walking backwards. It was all going well until this rude man came past and pushed her off the path. Without saying excuse me or even sorry, the man walked past, completely ignoring the fact that Giselle could have got hurt. Whenever we walk past him now, we completely move out of the way so that the incident will not repeat.

SHINE!
Everyday when we walk to school a high school student, wearing a red helmet, bikes past singing. One day as he cycled past and Taylor dared Giselle to  yell out “Shine like a magnet!” But it came out wrong because she said “Jump like a magnet” Taylor cracked up laughing and almost landed on the pavement. Now, whenever he is rapping, singing or whatever else he is doing we shout out “GO SHINE!!!!!!”

Ordering and Comparing decimals!

Today Zoe and I ordered and comparing decimals. We took some cards out of the pack and randomly made them into a decimal and then we ordered them. Eg:

Wearable Arts

Our creation is called: Night Delight. It was made by Sofia V, Sofia L, Taylor, Zoe and Chloe is our model. The black dress represents the night sky and the stars represent the seven stars of Matariki. The basket has kai (aka food) in it, we think that this represents matariki because we think that to celebrate matariki you need a good feast. The food is potato and carrot and other things that you would find in a hangi. We put lots of hard work into it so we hope you enjoy!
